Agapé Ministries was founded in 1987 by Corné and Pat van Niekerk. Henrí and Pearl Grové arrived with their three daughters, Leani, Danelle and Reneé during December 1990. They initially moved to start a business that flourished, but God had bigger and better plans. Henrí and Pearl joined the ministry team at Agapé Christian Church in July 1994. The leadership acted in obedience to God’s voice and started the English congregation in October 2003. Henri and Pearl led the assembly until April 2010.

Pieter and Lianza Pretorius are currently pastoring the English Assembly. They completed their studies at the Full Gospel Church of God in 1998 and were actively involved at the Revival Christian Centre in Alberton-north for several years before they were called to the ministry in Polokwane in 2006, along with their 2 daughter, Monique and Inez, and their son, Rueben.
